Still in very limited release and available for purchase early next month, BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD is a delightful fable set against the backdrop of post-Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans and centers on a 6-year-old girl dealing with an unstable father and her search for her absent mother. Co-written (with LUCY ALIBAR) and directed by newcomer BENH ZEITLIN, the film features stand-out performances by DWIGHT HENRY and wise-beyond-her-years QUVENZHANE WALLIS.
It appears that making a movie in a flooded disaster zone can be every bit as unpleasant as it would seem and, during a recent press conference to promote the film, little Ms. WALLIS confessed her biggest obstacle was the mud. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
