Thoughtful And Provocative, ‘The Master’ Already Has Critics Buzzing

master_ver2Scheduled for release later this month but already causing a stir at several sneak previews and film fests, THE MASTER is a beautifully realized and thoughtfully conceived rumination on the psychology of cult religion and philosophy. And, despite denials from almost everyone involved that the film was inspired by Scientology, it will be difficult for audiences not to make that connection. Written and directed by PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON, the cast includes JOAQUIN PHOENIX, PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN, AMY ADAMS, LAURA DERN and PATTY McCORMACK.
Making a welcome return to the screen after his disastrous self-serving documentary I’M STILL  HERE, JOAQUIN PHOENIX turns in a brilliant, awards-worthy performance. Unfortunately, it’s a performance he may never see if we’re to believe what he told us during our last interview. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
