It was just over a year ago, during the press conference for EVERYTHING MUST GO, that WILL FERRELL ripped Paramount Pictures a new one because of the studio’s refusal to move forward with a sequel to the cult-fave comedy ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
And, it was just a few weeks ago, during the press event for CASA DI MI PADRE, that FERRELL admitted that he’d made peace with the fact that it looked like a sequel was probably never going to happen. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
So, imagine our surprise when the announcement hit last night that Paramount has decided to go ahead with the long-delayed sequel that so many fans have been clamoring for. Set to be produced by JUDD APATOW and directed by ADAM McKAY, it’s been confirmed that PAUL RUDD and STEVE CARELL will be joining FERRELL in the roles they created in the original with more casting news to follow. And to make it all the sweeter, RON BURGUNDY confirmed the announcement in an appearance on last night’s CONAN O’BRIEN SHOW.
Currently getting rave reviews for his performance in the MIKE NICHOLS directed Broadway revival of ARTHUR MILLER’S classic drama DEATH OF A SALESMAN, actor ANDREW GARFIELD is sharing the stage with PHILLIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN and LINDA EMOND.
But things are going to get even hotter for the American-born, Brit-raised actor with the upcoming release of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, director MARC WEBB’S reboot of everybody’s favorite web-weaving superhero. The decision to give GARFIELD the nod over such actors as LOGAN LERMAN, JOSH HUTCHERSON, JAMIE BELL and ANTON YELCHIN was tantamount to winning the lottery and, no doubt, part of the studio’s choice was colored by GARFIELD’S passion for the source material. A fan of the Marvel Comics character since his childhood, the actor talked to us about what getting the role means to him. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
Airing tonight on NBC, the first season finale of the bawdy comedy WHITNEY (titled SOMETHING BLACK, SOMETHING BLUE) has the titular commitment-phobe finally heading to city hall to tie the knot with live-in boyfriend, ALEX, only to run into complications that make the situation tough. Created by stand-up comic and CHELSEA HANDLER regular WHITNEY CUMMINGS, the series is basically a short-form romantic comedy based largely on her comedy monologues. Joining CUMMINGS in the cast are CHRIS D’ELIA, RHEA SEEHORN, ZOE LISTER JONES and MAULIK PANCHOLY.
While it seems likely that the network will renew WHITNEY for a sophomore season, the announcement still hasn’t been made. We spoke with CUMMINGS and D’ELIA at the Television Critics Association press event, where they discussed the kind of humor displayed on the show.

Probably best known for his role as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson in the popular IRON MAN and THOR film franchises, actor CLARK GREGG wants fans to know that the character’s appearance in the upcoming Disney XD animated series ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN shouldn’t be taken as a clue that Spidey will be hooking up with THE AVENGERS anytime soon. In the Marvel Universe, characters cross over all the time and, in this case, Agent Coulson becomes Principal Coulson when he’s assigned to watch over teen super-heroes Spider-Man, Nova, White Tiger and Power Man (who are all attending Manhattan’s Midtown High School).
We caught up with GREGG last week and he talked about this new direction for Agent Coulson.
Enjoying its series debut tonight on Oxygen, BEST INK pits ten of the best male and female tattoo artists from around the country against each other in a competition for $100,000 and a cover story in Tattoo Magazine. In every episode, the artists will compete in two challenges: the “Flesh Challenge”, which tests their overall artistic and creative skills, and the “Ink Challenge”, in which they will actually commit a permanent design to a model’s skin. Hosted by former AMERICAN IDOL contestant (and tattoo enthusiast) KIMBERLY CALDWELL, the judges are pinup model and tattoo shop owner SABINA KELLEY and world-renowned tattoo artist JOE CAPOBIANCO.
We sat down with host and judges at the Television Critics Association press event and CAPOBIANCO broke down for us how the show works.
