We Bought A Zoo, director Cameron Crowe’s tale of a writer (Matt Damon) who buys a house which contains its own zoo (named Rosemoor Animal Park), heads to Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download on April 3rd. Scarlett Johansson also stars in the feature as the head zookeeper (and possible love interest) to Damon’s character. The Blu-ray contains over 2 1/2 hours of special features which includes deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel, three featurettes (“The Real Mee,” “We Shot a Zoo,” and “Their Happy Is Too Loud.” Also included is audio commentary with Crowe, co-star J.B. Smoove (aka Leon from Curb Your Enthusiasm) and editor Mark Livolsi.
I missed We Bought A Zoo when it hit theaters in December, but did plunk down a few bucks for the sublime and evocative soundtrack, which was composed by Sigur Ros frontman Jonsi. Crowe used one of Sigur Ros’ trademark songs, “Svefn-G-Englar,” for his film Vanilla Sky and actually decided to use Jonsi as towards the end of production of We Bought A Zoo. As for the soundtrack, check out the Jonsi tunes “Gathering Stories” and the subtle (yet affecting) piano driven track, “Aevin Endar.”
The following video is a December live stream chat which delves into Cameron Crowe’s collaboration with Jonsi. In the interview, Crowe talks about his love for the Jonsi track “Sinking Friendships” (featured on the musician’s solo album Go and on the We Bought a Zoo soundtrack) and explains why it was a perfect song for the film.

In theaters this weekend, THIS MEANS WAR is an unlikely hybrid of romcom-meets-action/adventure that actually skews a bit more to the latter than the former. Centered on a pair of CIA ops who fall for (and skirmish over) the same girl, the movie plays like a Valentine’s Day version of James Bond. Directed by McG from a screenplay by TIMOTHY DOWLING and SIMON KINBERG, the principal cast consists of REESE WITHERSPOON, CHRIS PINE and TOM HARDY, with support from CHELSEA HANDLER, LAURA VANDERVORT, ABIGAIL SPENCER, ANGELA BASSETT and DAVE KOECHNER.
Speaking to entertainment reporters at a recent press conference, PINE shared his thoughts on why the film should appeal to both sexes. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Opening in theaters this week, GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE returns actor NICOLAS CAGE to the role he last visited in 2007. Based on the popular Marvel comic book series and armed with the promise of being a reboot rather than a continuation of the previous film, it’s been directed by MARK NEVELDINE and BRIAN TAYLOR and also stars IDRIS ELBA, VIOLANTE PLACIDO, CIARAN HINDS and JOHNNY WHITWORTH. A long time fan of all things spooky, CAGE has always lamented the fact that horror, sci-fi and supernatural films don’t often get the respect they deserve. But, during a recent interview, he speculated that opinions of the genre are changing. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
