The news over the weekend of WHITNEY HOUSTON’S untimely death rocked (if not exactly shocked) the music world to it’s core. Undeniably one of popular music’s greatest singers, HOUSTON scored a record-breaking seven consecutive #1 singles and holds the Guinness World Record for being the most awarded female act of all time. Her biggest selling single was I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU from THE BODYGUARD, the 1992 feature film in which she made her big screen acting debut. Written and originally recorded by DOLLY PARTON in 1973, the song has been covered by several singers but never to the response that HOUSTON experienced.
We sat down with WHITNEY HOUSTON at the time of the original release of THE BODYGUARD and she admitted that the song wasn’t the first considered for the film and almost didn’t make the playlist. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
As a tribute to the late singer/actress, LIFETIME will air THE BODYGUARD tonight
