Just over twenty years after its original theatrical release, Disney’s animated classic, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, will be returning to theaters next month for a limited run after being remastered and converted to digital 3D. One of the studio’s most popular and financially successful titles, the film was directed by GERY TRUSDALE and KIRK WISE and featured the voice talents of ROBBY BENSON, PAIGE O’HARA, DAVID OGDEN STIERS, JERRY ORBACH and ANGELA LANSBURY. Flush with tunes by ALAN MENKIN and HOWARD ASHMAN, the movie went on to be adapted for the Broadway stage where it won several Tony Awards.
A veteran of stage, screen and television, ANGELA LANSBURY delighted audiences as the voice of the maternal teapot, Mrs. Potts. When we interviewed her for the original release of the film, she had a sense that this was a project that would stand the test of time. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
