Based on the John Le Carre novel, the 1973 set spy drama Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy centers on a taciturn British agent named George Smiley (Gary Oldman) who is tasked with finding a mole in his former organization. It’s a meaty role that should land Oldman a Best Actor Oscar nomination.
“I don’t know, it’s never really happened before,” says Oldman about the prospect of being nominated. “I’ve never been at the Golden Globes. I’ve never been nominated. The buzz on this is sort of new for me.”
I asked Mr. Oldman about the recent news about a Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy sequel. His response:
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, directed by Let The Right One In filmmaker Tomas Alfredson, opens Friday.
