Season 3 Of ‘The Sing-Off’ Wraps It Up Tonight

the-sing-offClosing out their third season tonight, THE SING-OFF is arguably one of the best TV reality/competition shows that nobody talks about. The a cappella extravaganza is hosted by NICK LACHEY and features a panel of judges comprised of BEN FOLDS, SARA BAREILLES and SHAWN STOCKMAN (who stepped in for NICOLE SCHERZINGER after she took off for THE X FACTOR). After starting the season with a talent pool consisting of 16 groups, tonight’s ultimate winners will walk away with $200,000 and a Sony recording contract. From the early days of doo-wop to the popularity of GLEE, a cappella music has always been a presence. Speaking recently with BAREILLES, we asked if she had thoughts on why this style of music has stayed around for so long. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Penelope Ann Miller Takes Another Trip To Historic Hollywood With ‘The Artist’

artist1Opening in theaters today, THE ARTIST is an homage to historic Hollywood and the world of films as they made the transformation from silents to talkies. Shot in black and white with no spoken dialogue, the movie might prove to be a test for younger audiences. But, for those of a certain age and hardcore film fans, it’s a thing of beauty.Written and directed by MICHEL HAZANAVICIUS, the cast includes JEAN DUJARDIN, BERENICE BEJO, JOHN GOODMAN, PENELOPE ANN MILLER and JOHN CROMWELL.
For PENELOPE ANN MILLER, revisting old Hollywood is old-hat. In 1992, she played real-life actress EDNA PURVIANCE in the Oscar-nominated CHAPLIN and, during our recent interview, she called herself the “go to girl” for making silent films. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
