TOM HARDY STEPS INTO THE RING IN MMA DRAMA ‘WARRIOR’

hardy8

Tom Hardy, a scene stealer last year in Inception, is featured as a former Marine who goes to toe with his brother (Joel Edgerton) in the MMA feature Warrior. Directed by Gavin O’Connor, the film was actually shot before Inception, but is now just seeing the light of day (it opens September 9th).

Hardy and Edgerton put their bodies through a rigorous training regimen for Warrior, and they talked about working with various fighters during the production (Hardy relates his Warrior experience to one of his earliest films, Black Hawk Down):

JOHNNY IUZZINI, GAIL SIMMONS GIVE CHEFS THEIR ‘JUST DESSERTS’

NUP_144852_0012 One of the many things I love about Top Chef and Top Chef Just Desserts is that the most talented chefs can be eliminated at the drop of a hat.

“You can be a great chef, but be a horrible competitor,” says judge Johnny Iuzzini.  “One has nothing to do with the other one.  To be a great competitor you have to be able to think on your feet and be able to organize quickly in your mind and execute.”

jess11

Having starred in such high profiles films as The Tree of Life, The Help, and now The Debt (opening Friday), Jessica Chastain is finally seeing all the hard work pay off.

“There are so many actors that are not working,” says Chastain, who will also be seen this year in The Texas Killing Fields (which also features The Debt co-star Sam Worthington.  “For the past four years, I’ve made 11 films and of course many of them got delayed for certain reasons.  Now they’re coming out at the same time, and it’s a very good problem to have.”

Listen to Chastain explain why she views each film as a “master class” and why, when it comes to choosing movie roles, she won’t play it safe:

‘BURIED TREASURE’ IS ABOUT “PEOPLE’S FEELINGS AND GREAT FINDS”

buried9

On tonight’s Buried Treasure (Fox, 8 pm et/pt), 54-year-old brothers Leigh and Leslie Keno travel to Texas, Vermont, and New Jersey on their continuing quest to find valuable items.

“We’re always learning something everyday, but when you look at thousands of pieces and you’re looking at the really bad stuff and the really good stuff, you have an innate attraction for the great things.” says Leigh Keno, who worked with his brother on the popular PBS series Antiques Roadshow.  “When you look at You judge a piece on quality, rarity, condition, and provenance, and all all those things are going through your head when analyzing the piece.”

STEVEN SODERBERGH TALKS “JAWS EFFECT” OF ‘CONTAGION’

CONTAGIONWhen it opens September 9th, the virus thriller Contagion may have some moviegoers trying their best to avoid human contact.

“Certainly in the back of our minds there was that idea that this movie could do for elevator buttons what Jaws did for the beach,” joked Soderbergh, whose latest film is based on a screenplay by Scott Z. Burns.

With an all-star cast (Kate Winslet, Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law), Contagion should pull in bigger box-office numbers than Sodbergh and Burns’ previous collaboration, The Informant (the drama made $33 million domestically).

Click on the media bar and listen to Soderbergh explain why there could be a wider audience for Contagion than Traffic, a critically acclaimed feature which won Oscars for Best Director (Soderberg) and Supporting Actor (Benicio Del Toro):
