So can Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill carry his own film?  Moviegoers will find out if Cavill can truly fill the screen, as he headlines director Tarsem’s latest feature Immortals.

Opening November 11th, Immortals has Theseus (Cavill) leading a group of warriors against King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke).  Stephen Dorff also co-stars as Stavros, one of the fighters who aids Theseus in his quest, with Luke Evans and Isabel Lucas playing Zeus and Athena.

‘COWBOYS & ALIENS’ STAR OLIVIA WILDE IS A “TREKKIE”

owilde3

Since I’m not an obsessed Star Trek fan, I have no idea if “Trekkie” or “Trekker” is the acceptable term, but during a recent interview for Cowboys & Aliens, Olivia Wilde described herself as a “Trekkie.”  The actress’ career has enjoyed a huge bump that past couple of years, thanks to her work on House and Tron: Legacy, and by the end of the summer she’ll have two films in the bank (Cowboys & Aliens, The Change-Up).

Wilde is an actress who is definitely on Hollywood’s radar, and her next step is to actually headline a film, which she believes is within her reach.  Click on the media bar and listen to Wilde talk about being a “Trekkie” and a Sigourney Weaver fan.

‘FRIGHT NIGHT’S’ ANTON YELCHIN EXPLAINS VAMPIRE CRAZE

antony1 Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), seen earlier this year as a troubled youth in the Mel Gibson drama The Beaver, takes on a hungry and sadistic vampire (Colin Farrell) in Fright Night, a remake of the 1985 film of the same name.

Yelchin, who is steeped in movie knowledge (referencing Pier Paolo Paolo Pasoli during a junket interview puts him above the curve) gave an in-depth explanation on our fixation with vampires (True Blood, Twilight, Vampire Diaries, and now Fright Night, just to name a few).

“I’m not one to think whether vampires are real or werewolves are real,” says Yelchin.  “There’s enough horrifying s**t in our world.  I don’t worry that a vampire is going to come out and bite my neck.  I just don’t want to get jumped on the street, you know?!”

RYAN GOSLING DOES ‘CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE’ AT DOCTOR’S REQUEST

goslingcom2

Actor Ryan Gosling has a passion for character driven, soul searching dramas (Blue Valentine, Half-Nelson), and he makes a bit of a departure with the new comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.  Gosling stars as a womanizer who gives a cuckolded man (Steve Carell) some priceless dating advice, but his rakish ways are changed thanks to a spirited woman (Emma Stone).

“When you do drama, you’re trying to preserve that reality on set,” says Gosling.  “Because you’re trying to preserve that reality so much so that it becomes real to you and the people who are shooting it.  When you’re doing a comedy, you’re constantly making fun of it, you’re harpooning it, you’re heckling it.  You go to the monitor and you become like those two old guys from The Muppets Show and you just start making fun of yourself.  So (they’re) very, very wildly different atmospheres.”

GOSSIP GIRL: THE FOURTH SEASON HITS DVD AUGUST 23RD

gossipg5

Gossip Girl: The Complete Fourth Season hits DVD August 23rd, and special features on the collection include two featurettes (Bisoux a Paris! Go Abroad on a Spree in Paris with the Cast and Creative Teams and Exposing Gossip Girl: The Making of 18, The Kids Stay in the Picture), unaired scenes, and a gag reel.

Season four was a return to form, as Katie Cassidy pretty much stole the show as Juliet, a schemer who went to the ends of the Earth to destroy Serena (Blake Lively).  Blair Waldorf‘s (Leighton Meester) continuing love-hate relationship with Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) took a bit of a backseat, as she found a different kind of love with a prince.  Michael Boatman also did solid work during the season as Russell Thorpe, a vindictive businessman who tried to destroy Chuck’s empire.  Unfortunately, Dan “Lonely Boy” Humphrey didn’t have much to do except pine for Serena, although his growing friendship with Blair was the season’s most pleasant surprise (Dan + Blair = Dair, if you didn’t know).

Click on the media bar below and listen to Leighton Meester talk about the challenges of playing Blair Waldorf.
