Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), seen earlier this year as a troubled youth in the Mel Gibson drama The Beaver, takes on a hungry and sadistic vampire (Colin Farrell) in Fright Night, a remake of the 1985 film of the same name.
Yelchin, who is steeped in movie knowledge (referencing Pier Paolo Paolo Pasoli during a junket interview puts him above the curve) gave an in-depth explanation on our fixation with vampires (True Blood, Twilight, Vampire Diaries, and now Fright Night, just to name a few).
“I’m not one to think whether vampires are real or werewolves are real,” says Yelchin. “There’s enough horrifying s**t in our world. I don’t worry that a vampire is going to come out and bite my neck. I just don’t want to get jumped on the street, you know?!”

Fright Night, co-starring Toni Collette, opens August 19th.
