KATIE HOLMES LOVES THE “DARK” WORLDS OF GUILLERMO DEL TORO

DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK

Last seen in the miniseries The Kennedys, Katie Holmes stars in Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, a horror-thriller that was co-written by Pan’s Labyrinth filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.  The picture focuses on a young girl named Sally (Bailee Madison) who discovers that monsters reside in her new Gothic estate (Blackwood Manor).  Guy Pearce (The Proposition) plays her career driven father and Holmes is his girlfriend who tries her best to bond with Sally.

RAVEN-SYMONE IS IN A “GEORGIA” STATE OF MIND

Premiering tonight (ABC Family, 8:30 pm et/pt), State of Georgia centers on the lives of an aspiring actress named Georgia (Raven-Symone) and her best friend Jo (Majandra Delfino), who has her own dreams of becoming a scientist.  Loretta Devine also stars in the series as Georgia’s loving Aunt Honey, who lets the girls rent a room at her lavish apartment while they achieve their goals in the Big Apple.

Raven-Symone, who first gained popularity as a child actor on The Cosby Show and headlined her own TV series (That’s So Raven), also starred with Martin Lawrence in the 2008 feature College Road Trip.

TYRESE GIBSON PREFERS ‘TRANSFORMERS’ FRANCHISE OVER ‘FAST AND FURIOUS’

Tyrese Gibson has already starred in a box-office hit this summer thanks to the success of Fast Five, and now he’s a member of what could be this year’s #1 flick, Transformers: Dark of the MoonGibson, who’s a car enthusiast, was asked to pick which franchise he personally preferred, and the actor erred on the side of director Michael Bay.

SELENA GOMEZ EXPERIENCES LIFE CHANGING SUMMER WITH ‘MONTE CARLO’

Selena Gomez plays a tourist who is mistaken for royalty while traveling throughout Europe in the comedy Monte Carlo, and although the picture also stars Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy, it’s the Disney Channel star who headlines the project.

KEVIN JAMES RECALLS INITIAL ANIMAL KINGDOM FOR ‘ZOOKEEPER’

Kevin James plays the titular character in Zookeeper, a caretaker who is more comfortable hanging out with animals than romancing females.  When he decides to quit his job and search for a high profile (thinking a new career will help him with the ladies), his zoo friends (featuring the voices of Cher, Sylvester Stallone, and Judd Apatow) try to convince him to stay.

When approached with the idea from producing partner Todd Gardner, James was hesitant about headlining a talking animals movie.  But James eventually came around, and now Zookeeper opens nationwide July 8th.  (Click on the media bar below to hear James discuss the initial creative stages of Zookeeper).
