Twilight actor Robert Pattinson stars in Water for Elephants as Jacob, a circus veterinarian who falls in love with the wife (Reese Witherspoon) of a violent animal trainer (Christoph Waltz).  Based on the bestselling, Depression-era set novel by Sara Gruen, the feature opens nationwide April 22nd.

“I think I’ve always had a bit of affinity to that era,” said Pattinson during the Water for Elephents press conference, which was held at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica over the weekend.  “I’ve always wanted to do a movie around that time.  And I think it was just very solid how (author Sara Gruen) she created the world.  I just think I just wanted to be a part of it.”
