Ashthon Jones got a taste of the good life and although she was eliminated from American Idol Thursday night, she has no plans to go back to a pre-Idol existence.

“I want to continue to do music. I want to continue to be a songwriter,” she says passionately. “I want to continue to be an artist. I really see myself performing. I see myself in venues, opening up for people and people opening up for me and doing this for the rest of my life.”

Sure there were tears when she got cut, but now the singer is stealing herself for the road ahead, but armed with the tools to weather the storms along the way.

“Now, I’ve learned what songs to pick,” she points out. “Like Jennifer [Lopez] told me, when you sell a record make sure you’ve got hits under your belt. I learned to be a better performer, to not be intimidated by the lights and the cameras, the radio stations, the reporters and the paparazzi.”
