American Idol fans will now be able to vote online the first time ever, Fox said today.

Starting March 1st, viewers can go to AmericanIdol.com to vote, but they have to login through Facebook accounts.

Of course text message and toll-free phone lines will still be available to cast ballots.

Other changes include “Transparency,” or what The Hollywood Reporter says is adding behind-the-scenes things and having singers interact with fans.

Another idea that may or may not happen is for the Top 12 contestants live in the same Hollywood Hills mansion where they’ll Twitter with fans, among other things.

There may or may not be a trip for the Top 12 to Vegas for a guest ‘integration’ with the Cirque du Soleil headline show at The Mirage.

Producers continue to stir the pot, now that their show is back on its feet, to avoid ever getting stale again.
