Will Ferrell from "Elf" in 2003 (New Line Cinema)

Once again, Will Ferrell wins the coveted most overpaid actor in the world designation by Forbes magazine.

Ferrell got one dollar for every $3.35 his movies made.  Get me the number of his agent.

Forbes‘ team of scholars immersed themselves into its Celebrity 100 list, then added boxoffice and did some hoodoo with production budgets and compared that with the star’s lavish salaries.

If Forbes didn’t factor in publicity and marketing, then the only one’s making money may have been the top actors.

Ferrell‘s Land of the Lost, Step Brothers and Semi-Pro were analyzed (not The Other Guys because this year’s awards ended on June 1st)

A close second was Eddie Murphy, who was paid $1 for every $4.45 his movies earned.  Imagine That, Meet Dave and Norbit were evaluated.  Animated films aren’t allowed, so the Shrek franchise couldn’t help him.

Others at the top include  Seth Rogen, Vince Vaughn, Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Drew Barrymore, Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise and Matt Damon.

Nice work if you can get it.
