
The Social Network, which is based on the founding members of Facebook, held firm to its number one position earning an estimated additional $15.5 million. That brings the total box office take to $46 mil inching it ever closer to its $50 million production costs.
The romantic-comedy Life as We Know It, starring Josh Duhamel and Katherine Heigl landed in the second position for its first outing in theaters with an estimated $14.6 million.
The Disney family film, Secretariat, based on the 1973 triple-crown winning racehorse of the same name, placed third in theaters this week bringing in an estimated 12.6 million in revenue.
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole dropped 35.6 percent and fell from its second-place perch to fourth this week, but still managed to bring in an additional $7 million. So far the fantasy pic has gathered up $39.4 mil – which is still shy of its $80 mil budget, but, this is only its third week in theaters.
Universal Pictures latest offering, My Soul to Take, landed $6.9 million in its first outing. It seems the studio had little faith in their horror pic – they didn’t screen it prior to its release – and apparently audiences could smell the fear.
