Superman in better times

And you only thought you’d heard everything.  Inspired by the President’s effort to reach out to the Muslim world, philanthropist Jay T. Snyder got disabled Syrian and American children in Damascus by the Open Hands Initiative to design a new comic book superhero in both Arabic and English.

Although not finished, the prototype is a Muslim boy who becomes the Silver Scorpion when he develops metal-controlling powers after stepping on a landmine and is confined to a wheelchair.

While all of this is coming from a good place and has few downsides (and you won’t see anyone in public life lampooning the five sensitive themes manifest in this new superhero), you have to wonder what will be the next big thing?  An ironlung-bound holy roller who can send evil-doers to the corn field?
