Legendary songwriter-singer Elton John excoriated music artists for boycotting Arizona over the immigration issue, the Arizona Daily Star reported. John was performing in Tucson when he told the audience “We are all very pleased to be playing in Arizona. I have read that some of the artists won’t come here. They are f***wits!” Then Sir Elton told them what he really thought. “Let’s face it: I still play in California, and as a gay man I have no legal rights whatsoever. So what’s the (expletive) with these people?”
John is a thoughtful liberal who has long marched to his own song notes. Just last month he performed at the wedding reception of conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh. The same month he ignored a boycott of Israel to entertain in the capitol, saying “We don’t cherry-pick our conscience.”
