Extended ‘Family’? Ty Burrell Wants 30 Years Of ‘Modern Family’

148207_9624Modern Family has been the kind of opportunity most actors can only dream about. For Ty Burrell, though, it’s been a very pleasant reality. He’s won two Emmy Awards for playing Phil Dunphy on the ABC comedy, which is now in its ninth season. While Burrell had plenty of acting jobs before joining the show, he realizes that — in terms of longevity, recognition, and respect — the Modern Family gig is as good as it gets, and he doesn’t want it to end anytime soon. The Comedic Cast Of ‘Butter’ Spreads Advice To Aspiring Actors

butterOpening (after what seems like forever) in limited release later this week, BUTTER is a social satire focused on red-state, small town standards and set against the backdrop of competitive butter carving. Off-beat and quirky, the film obviously has a political agenda that doesn’t serve everyone but it does manage to deliver a few laughs that strike a universal chord. Directed by JIM FIELD SMITH from a script by feature film newbie JASON MICALLEF, the all-star ensemble cast includes JENNIFER GARNER, HUGH JACKMAN, OLIVIA WILDE, ROB CORDDRY, ALICIA SILVERSTONE, TY BURRELL and ASHLEY GREENE.
Sitting down with entertainment press in Manhattan a few days ago, the cast and filmmakers joked around while hyping the new film. In response to one reporter’s question, TY BURRELL, ROB CORDDRY and OLIVIA WILDE offered up some advice for wannabe actors.. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Festival Favorite ‘Butter’ Takes Satirical Look At Red-State Righties

butter-poster-438x650Set for release this fall, BUTTER is a social satire focused on red-state, small town standards and set against the backdrop of competitive butter carving.
Playing a totally unlikable character (and about as different from her role in THE ODD LIFE OF TIMOTHY GREEN as she could get), JENNIFER GARNER adds another winning performance to her resume. When we spoke with her a couple of weeks ago, she talked about these two completely diverse roles being released during the same season. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

ACTING IS “FEAR MANAGEMENT” FOR EMMY WINNER JULIE BOWEN

bowen5 Julie Bowen, who won an Emmy (Supporting Actress, Comedy) for her work in Modern Family, talked about how she bonded with her co-star (and fellow Emmy winner) Ty Burrell.

“One day he said to me that ‘Acting is fear management,’ and I knew that I had a rock on the set at all times,” says Bowen.  “He’s funny and he’s silly, but really anybody that understands that in front of a camera all you’re trying to do is convince yourself that you’re not scared of anything is pretty amazing.”

TY BURRELL GETS HIS “PHIL” OF “MODERN FAMILY”

128One of this TV season’s most pleasurable surprises is Modern Family, and relative unknown Ty Burrell has gained his share of attention as family man Phil Dunphy, whose wife Claire Dunphy is played by the all too charming actress Julie Bowen (if you want to check their innate chemistry, check out the hilarious episode “My Funky Valentine”).  Burrell talks about the joy of playing Phil on the comedy, which airs tonight on ABC at 9 pm et/pt.
