Alex Pettyfer Travels Through The Backwoods In ‘The Strange Ones’ Trailer

thestrangeones1

Alex Pettyfer was pegged as a star to watch several years back with his lead performance in I Am Number Four. Starring roles in Beastly, Magic Mike, and Endless Love followed, but it’s his work in The Strange Ones which may command the most attention (at least critically).

The movie, which centers on two travelers (Pettyfer, Cop Car’s James Freedson-Jackson) who travel through the rural landscapes of America, is an expansion of that co-directors Lauren Wolkstein and Christopher Radcliff in 2011. The trailer promises a nail biting thriller that carries a strong visual sense from the filmmakers, and at just 82 minutes this flick probably is as tight as they come story wise. Freedson-Jackson received a Special Jury Recognition for Breakthrough Performance at this year’s SXSW Festival for his The Strange Ones.

The Strange Opens debuts exclusively on DIRECTV before hitting theaters January 5, 2018.

New To Blu: Channing Tatum Takes A Stroll Down Memory Lane With ‘Magic Mike’

magic-mike-2012-720p-bluray-x264-sparks-1

Available today on DVD and Blu-ray, the hugely entertaining and much buzzed-about MAGIC MIKE is a quasi-biopic loosely based on the real-life exploits of star CHANNING TATUM before he hit the big-time as an actor and tells the story of a young male stripper mentored to the top of the biz by a more experienced colleague. Directed by STEVEN SODERBERGH from a script by REID CARLTON, the extremely photogenic cast also includes ALEX PETTYFER, MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY, OLIVIA MUNN, MATT BOMER and JOE MANGANIELLO.  Talking with TATUM at the time of the film’s original release, he took a little time to talk about MAGIC MIKE and revisiting some of the locations and experiences from his youth. Matthew McConaughey Confesses A Fondness For Stripping On Stage

magic-mike-matthew-mcconaughey3It may not be the biggest hit of the summer season but MAGIC MIKE has more than proven to be an audience crowd pleaser and first rate entertainment. Under the direction of STEVEN SODERBERGH, the film examines the world of male strip clubs as it tells a tale of hopes and dreams, some realized and some gone awry and undoubtedly benefits from the ‘beefcake’ cast that includes CHANNING TATUM, ALEX PETTYFER, MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY, MATT BOMER, ALEX RODRIGUEZ and JOE MANANIELLO.
Holding his own against younger members of the cast, MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY succeeds in stealing the show as Dallas, the slightly screwy impresario in charge of this stripping sausage-fest and tears it up with a dance number of his own. At the Los Angeles press conference to promote the film, he talked about getting into character. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Channing Tatum Suggests Art Doesn’t Necessarily Imitate Life In ‘Magic Mike’

magic_mike_ver2Under the expert direction of STEVEN SODERBERGH, the new drama MAGIC MIKE examines the world of male strip clubs as it tells a tale of hopes and dreams, some realized and some gone awry. A much more substantial film than the trailer suggests, the film will undoubtedly get a lot of attention because of the ‘beefcake’ cast that includes CHANNING TATUM, ALEX PETTYFER, MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY, MATT BOMER, ALEX RODRIGUEZ and JOE MANANIELLO.
Scripted by REID CARLTON (producing partner of CHANNING TATUM), the story is loosely based on the real-life exploits of TATUM before he hit the big-time as an actor. During the press conference to promote the movie, the actor talked about his days as a stripper and why he called it quits. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Steven Soderbergh Brings A Quiet Strength To ‘Magic Mike’

magic_mikeComing to theaters this week, MAGIC MIKE tells the story of a young male stripper mentored to the top of the biz by more experienced colleagues. Directed by STEVEN SODERBERGH from a script by REID CARLTON, the story is loosely based on the real-life exploits of star CHANNING TATUM before he hit the big-time as an actor. Also in the cast are ALEX PETTYFER, MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY, MATT BOMER, ALEX RODRIGUEZ and JOE MANANIELLO, making this what appears to be the “beefcake” movie of the year.

In the film, SODERBERGH completely captures the atmosphere and energy of the strip club world without getting too dark yet still maintains a believable reality. During last week’s press conference to promote the film, he talked about using less dialogue to get his points across to an audience . (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
