LIE TO ME: An old friend (guest star Lenny James, L) involves Lightman (Tim Roth, R) in a dangerous deal in the LIE TO ME episode "Grievous Bodily Harm" airing Monday, Oct. 26 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2009 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Isabella Vosmikova/FOX.
Everybody’s doing it, get a hit TV series, become a big star and move into directing a few episodes. Sounds simple, huh?
Not so fast, says Tim Roth, who could easily take the reigns of his show, Lie to Me, but still hesitates.
The actor is apparently a perfectionist and would need time to really plot out his directing approach before stepping behind the lense. And though he’s considering it, Roth says for now, he’ll settle for his high-profile day job.

Lie to Me airs Mondays, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

TRAUMA -- "Masquerade" Episode 105 -- Pictured: Derek Luke as Cameron Boone -- NBC Photo: Trae Patton.
Halloween is just days away and TV shows are already in full swing airing their holiday episodes.
Even a serious drama like Trauma has gotten in on the action by sending characters Boone (Derek Luke) and Tyler (Kevin Rankin) into the wackiest part of San Francisco to treat patients.
Halloween is serious business in San Francisco where Trauma is shot, but you won’t find Derek Luke in costume out on the town. It’s not that he’s anti-Halloween, it’s just that his mother set the ground rules for the costumes from the time he was a kid.

Trauma airs Monday nights, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
Matt Damon and Josh Brolin are in discussions with Joel and Ethan Coen to join Jeff Bridges in “True Grit,” the re-imagining of the iconic 1969 Western that Paramount Pictures will put into production next March for late 2010 release. The Coens, who previously attached their “Big Lebowski” star Bridges to play U.S. marshal Rooster Cogburn, are in talks with Damon to play the lawman (played by Glen Campbell in the original) who teams with Cogburn and a 14-year old girl to track her father’s killer into hostile Indian territory.
In a turnabout, Brolin is in talks to play the killer. The actor’s recent rise was greatly helped playing the good guy in the Coens’ Oscar-winning contemporary Western “No Country for Old Men.” Jeff Corey played the killer in the original, and Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper also played outlaws.
They haven’t yet cast the young girl.
The Coens are producing with Scott Rudin and Steven Spielberg. The Coens wrote a script which is more faithful to the Charles Portis novel that inspired the original.
Though their current pic “A Serious Man” isn’t chock full of stars, the Coens continue to draw top actors who want to work in their films.
Damon just wrapped the Clint Eastwood-directed “Invictus” and is shooting the George Nolfi-directed “The Adjustment Bureau.” He’s also set to re-team with Eastwood in “Hereafter.” Brolin is shooting the Oliver Stone-directed “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps,” and then will star in the Asger Leth-directed drama “Cartel.”

MULTI-TALENTED GOLDEN GLOBE AND EMMY AWARD WINNER RICKY GERVAIS TO HOST NBCS THE 67TH ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 17
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIF. October 26, 2009 — Multi-talented Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Ricky Gervais (”The Invention of Lying,” “The Office”) will host “The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards” on Sunday, January 17, 2010 on NBC. This year’s show will be broadcast live coast-to-coast from 5-8 p.m. (PT) and 8-11 p.m. (ET) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. This marks the first time the telecast has had a host since 1995.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, dick clark productions and NBC made the announcement today.
“Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host. I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don’t turn down,” said Gervais.
“Ricky is certainly one of the funniest people on the planet and has provided some of the most hilarious and memorable awards show moments in recent memory,” said Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios. “His unique comedic style will enhance the only awards show that brings together television and film stars to celebrate entertainment’s biggest night of the year.”
“We are delighted to have Ricky Gervais as the host on our show,” said Philip Berk, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. “He’ll bring his unique brand of humor and charm to what will continue to be a fast paced award show.”
Gervais is probably best known for his role as David Brent on the BBC version of “The Office.” Gervais produced, wrote (with Stephen Merchant), directed and acted on the mock documentary series from 2001-2003. Twelve episodes and a two-part Christmas special later, “The Office” is consigned to broadcasting history as one of the most perfectly crafted comedy series in British TV history. The show was showered with awards and critical acclaim and Gervais became a household name. Gervais and Merchant teamed up again in 2005 to create the award-winning series “Extras” in which he played an aspiring actor.
Nominations for “The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards” will be announced at 8 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday, December 15.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Mia Michaels has resigned from the U.S. version of the popular dance show on FOX. ©2009 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Michael Williams/FOX.
Say it ain’t so! Mia Michaels, the butt-kicking, no-nonsense choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance has quit - and she announced it via Twitter and Facebook.
So You Think You Can Dance Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe as well as judges Adam Shankman and Mary Murphy all had something to say about the Emmy-winning choreographer leaving the hit show.
Lythgoe says her Tweets and Facebook posts are overblown and reflect the U.S. version of SYTYCD - and even that doesn’t mean she’ll be gone forever. Lythgoe points out that Michaels is still set to begin on the international SYTYCD shows.
SYTYCD judge, Adam Shankman believes Michaels will be back, but she just needs time off to flex other creative muscles.
Judge Mary Murphy’s not so sure. The Scream Queen admits this isn’t the first time Michaels has threatened leave the production.
Question is, will it be forever? Perhaps the accelerated schedule from the summer to a fall program took its toll on Michaels.

SYTYCD continues tonight with a special broadcast where we get to know the top 20 contestants, 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. The competition gets underway Tuesday night, 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

Adam Shankman proved movie musicals were back to stay when his flick Hairspray opened and became a gigantic hit.
Now Shankman’s about to take another musical stage production and turn it into a big screen motion picture.
Rock of Ages rocked New York and earned former American Idol contestant, Constantine Maroulis, a Tony nomination. But, don’t expect Maroulis or anyone in the production for that matter, to be guaranteed a part in the movie.
Shankman tells HollywoodOutbreak.com that the stage and film are two entirely different mediums and though he’s no where near to casting Rock of Ages, he’ll be looking for film-savvy talent for the pic.
Rock of Ages is expected to be released in 2011.
