When he landed the role of Dr. Shaun Murphy on The Good Doctor, Freddie Highmore knew he faced a daunting challenge. So he did as much research as he could, because he wanted to portray the brilliant, autistic surgeon as realistically as possible. Along the way, he discovered intriguing things about autism that he never knew, and he says his perception of autism has completely changed as a result.
