147520_6133-400x0One of this fall’s most intriguing new shows is ABC’s The Good Doctor, which stars Freddie Highmore as a brilliant doctor who happens to be autistic. With more than 3.5 million Americans dealing with some form of autism, it’s a condition that has some kind of impact on most people’s daily lives. Since the autism spectrum is so broad, it’s also a complex condition that needs to be addressed in a knowledgeable, compassionate way. Highmore told us he thinks the show’s writers and producers are doing a great job of writing his character from an accurate and humane perspective. (Click on the media bar below to hear Freddie Highmore)

The Good Doctor airs Monday nights at 10/9c on ABC.
