One of the things about making movies is that, by the time it’s been written, shot, and edited, you have no idea about the cultural atmosphere it will enter when it’s released. The new movie Suburbicon, directed by George Clooney, is a dark dramedy about a 1959 family living in a town that, although it seems idyllic on the surface, holds plenty of dark, dangerous, and violent secrets. Matt Damon stars in the movie, and he told us that although the film is set in 1959, it deals with some of the very same hot-button issues America is facing in 2017. Suburbicon opens in theaters on October 27.
