Based on the New York Times bestseller, Wonder centers on August Pullman (Room’s Jacob Tremblay), a boy who was born with a facial deformity that has led him from attending a mainstream school. Auggie, however, enters fifth grade on a mission to get an education with the rest of his peers. Whether it’s his fellow classmates or his immediate community, Auggie doesn’t exactly receive overnight acceptance and inclusion. Still, he remains undeterred, and one would assume his journey of “wonder” leads to inspiring results.
The great news is that it was penned and directed by Stephen Chbosky, the filmmaker behind the first rate The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Chbosky told Perks sans saccharine or heavy-handedness, and hopefully he brings that delicate touch to Wonder as well.
Co-starring Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts, Wonder opens nationwide November 17. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!
