Simon Curtis, the director behind the underrated Woman in Gold and acclaimed My Week With Marilyn, is back with what looks to be another winner. Goodbye Christopher Robin in inspired by the story of Winnie the Pooh author A.A. Milne’s (Ex Machina’s Domhnall Gleeson) relationship with his son Christopher (Will Tilston).
Haunted by memories of World War I and in a creative rut, Milne found inspiration from his son’s imagination, and their close bond led to the creation of Milne’s most popular character. Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad) co-stars as Milne’s wife Daphne and Kelly MacDonald, who also starred in the fantastic author/child bonding story Finding Neverland, is Christopher Robin’s nanny.
Blessed an A-list cast, respected director, and insight on one of literature’s most beloved authors, Goodbye Christopher Robin may be one of this year’s awards contenders. Goodbye Christopher Robin hits theaters October 13. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think!
