Although it’s the youngest of the broadcast networks, The CW has recycled more shows than any other network. In the past, the network has aired rebooted versions of Beverly Hills 90210 (as 90210), Melrose Place, Beauty and the Beast, and La Femme Nikita (as Nikita). 90210 and Melrose Place were both Aaron Spelling productions, and the network is once again dipping into the late mogul’s library for a new version of the seminal ’80s soap Dynasty. Like the original, the reboot will focus on the wealthy Carrington family. Some of the original characters are being resurrected (albeit with different actors), while there will be a few modern variations and twists thrown in to make the show more relevant to a 21st Century audience. Grant Show (the original Melrose Place), Nathalie Kelley (Unreal) and James Mackay star in the new series. We’ve watched the trailer; frankly, we’re not impressed. But don’t necessarily take our word for it — take a look at the trailer yourself and let us know what you think.
The Dynasty reboot premieres October 11 on The CW.
