Superstore actress America Ferrera will be honored with the NAB Television Chairman’s Award at the NAB Show Television Luncheon. The event will be held April 24 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. The award honors individuals who’ve made significant breakthroughs in television.
Carving her acting teeth with the indie drama Real Women Have Curves, Ferrera continued her cinematic success with The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and How to Train Your Dragon. Ferrera received a Golden Globe, Emmy, ALMA, Imagen, and Screen Actors Guild Award for her work on the hit ABC comedy Ugly Betty.
“America Ferrera is an esteemed and versatile actress who not only entertains, but brings attention to a variety of important national and global issues, says NAB Executive Vice president of Television Marcellus Alexander. “She is the embodiment of what this award represents.”
Ferrera recently executive produced the dramedy Gente-fied, a digital series which spotlights the gentrification of Boyle Heights, California. We spoke to Ferrera about the project, and check out the video below to hear the actress/producer shed a bit more light on Gente-fied.
