One of the only movie drawbacks from 2016 was the lack of an Amy Schumer vehicle. After the success of 2015’s Trainwreck, Schumer is back with the comedy Snatched. This time out, she’s paired with comedy queen Goldie Hawn who hasn’t done a movie since 2002’s The Banger Sisters.
The story centers on Emily (Schumer), a thirtysomething woman whose getting over a recent break-up (Randall Park plays her ex). She takes her mother (Hawn) on a spontaneous trip to Ecuador and what begins as a fun in the sun vacation devolves into something entirely different. The pair are kidnapped and must use their wits and survival instincts to make it through another day. The script was penned by Katie Dippold, whose successful screenwriting career includes The Heat and Ghostbusters (she’s also signed to pen The Heat 2). Jonathan Levine, the director behind the zombie comedy Warm Bodies and the Joseph Gordon-Levitt dramedy 50/50, is behind the camera.
