One of the greatest animated films of all time, Pinocchio (1940, 88 minutes) has been added to the Walt Disney Signature Colleciton and will receive its Blu-ray and DVD release on January 31.

The feature, winner of two Academy Awards (including best original song with “When You Wish Upon A Star”), features hours of bonus material which includes never before seen artwork from the movie’s Pleasure Island sequence.

The storyline, which centers on the titular characters journey to become a real boy with the aid of his good friend “Jiminy Cricket,” has transcended time and weather.

Bonus features on the disc include:

1. Walt’s Story Meetings: Pleasure Island - Inside Out director Pete Docter and Disney historian J.B. Kaufman give viewers a peek at recently discovered artwork in Disney’s animation research library.

2. In Walt’s Words - Pinocchio: Walt Disney talks about the making of Pinocchio. Archival recordings and interviews are featured in this segment.

3. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in “Poor Papa” - This restored 1927 short features “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit” helping the stork deal with a heavy influx of baby deliveries.

4. Classic Bonus Features - These are features culled from previous home entertainment releases which includes deleted scenes, a “making of” Pinocchio featurette, theatrical trailers, and storyboards.
