Brent Morin Is A Lifelong Fan of NBC’s Must See TV (“Undateable” Chat)

(NBC, CR: Justin Lubin)

Premiering tonight, Undateable centers on a laid back ladies man named Danny (Chris D’Elia) who attempts to impart some love advice to new roommate Justin (Brent Morin). Justin, who’s a bar owner, also has a bunch of friends (Ron Funches, Rick Glassman, David Flynn) in need dating of dating tips, so Danny definitely has his work cut out for him. The show, executive produced by Bill Lawrence, is inspired by the book Undateable: 311 Things Guys Do That Guarantee They Won’t Be Dating or Having Sex.

D’Elia previously worked on the sitcom Whitney, but for Morin it’s his first foray into the sitcom arena. In the video clip below, he talks about being a fan of NBC’s Must See TV lineup as a youth:

Undateable, which also stars Bianca Kajlich as Danny’s recently divorced sibling, airs tonight on NBC (9 pm et/pt).

To check out my review of Undateable as well as a video of D’Elia and Morin explaining why stand-up comedy is still a huge passion for both of them, check out our sister site Deepest Dream.

Nick Cannon Won’t Encourage Kids To Audition For “America’s Got Talent”

America's Got Talent (NBC, Paul Drinkwater)

Even though Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are one of showbiz’s most high profile and talented couples, Cannon said in a recent interview that he wouldn’t fully encourage his children to audition for such a show like America’s Got Talent.

Canon does have a point, since he adds that entering the family business would be an all too easy transition for his children, so it doesn’t make too much sense for them to enter any kind of high profile, television based, talent competition.

Check out the video below to hear the America’s Got Talent host talk show host explain why he’ll always support his children in whatever they do, but when it comes to show business, he will definitely have his guard up.

A new season of America’s Got Talent begins tonight on NBC (8 pm et/pt)

To check out a video which has Mel B and Howie Mandel talking (and joking) about America’s Got Talent’s innate chemistry, check out the post on our sister site Deepest Dream.

An Activist’s Outrage Shines Through In HBO’s ‘The Normal Heart’

14Just thirty years after it first polarized audiences from the stage, LARRY KRAMER’S much-acclaimed, award-winning play THE NORMAL HEART is making it to television this week-end on HBO. Produced, directed and co-written for the screen (with KRAMER) by the always provocative RYAN MURPHY, the film stars MARK RUFFALO, MATT BOMER, JIM PARSONS, TAYLOR KITSCH and JULIA ROBERTS in its recounting of the early days of the AIDS crises and the divisive effect it had on both the straight and gay communities. A complete labor of love for MURPHY, THE NORMAL HEART is nothing short of a triumph and will join the ranks of such films as LONGTIME COMPANION, ANGELS IN AMERICA, AS IS and PARTING GLANCES.
At a press conference to promote the film, MURPHY talked about the importance of KRAMER’S contribution. (Click on the media bar below to hear Ryan Murphy)

THE NORMAL HEART premieres on HBO Sunday 5/25.

Harrison Ford: This ‘Empire’ May Never Fall

empire_strikes_back_poster_vaderThis week marked the 34-year anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back’s release. (Or, for those of you who strictly adhere to revisionist history, Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.) As sequels go, it remains one of the best, adding iconic characters like Yoda and Lando Calrissian to the Star Wars universe, while shocking audiences beyond belief with just four words: “I am your father.”

With a new Star Wars movie making headlines (and a new trilogy on the way), it’s a perfect time to look back on Empire’s greatness. A few years ago, we caught up with Harrison Ford (Han Solo), who offered his opinion about why the film still holds up so well after all these years.
