Jennifer Lopez was initially set to judge just a year of American Idol, but her first stint on the show lasted two seasons. After her hiatus from last season, the show underwent its share of turmoil, mainly due to the friction between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.

With Harry Connick Jr. and returnee Keith Urban rounding out the judges, American Idol’s chemistry should be an entirely different animal - and for all intents and purposes, that’s a good thing.”

“I sit between two people who I respect and have a good time with,” said Lopez at Monday’s FOX’s Television Critics Association day. “We all love music. That’s what is going to make it sparkly and fresh and new again.”
