After closing the chapter on the Twilight series, author Stephenie Meyer continues to work in showbiz, as she’s a producer on the romantic comedy Austenland.
“It was a lot easier and harder in some ways,” said Meyer of the new movie, which stars Keri Russell. “Easier because this wasn’t my story. For the first time it was someone else’s story and there was no pressure on me to…with Twilight there was so much, “If it’s not exactly like this every0one is going to explode. It felt very freeing not to have that. This was a little film and there was a lot that needed to be done to make it happen. So there was just a lot of willpower (involved). So there was a lot of pushing (I did) as a producer (laughs).”
Meyer, who also produced The Host this year (it’s based on her novel of the same name), loved the community feel of the Austenland production. Click on the media bar to hear Meyer discuss the difference between writing and producing a project.
