110Superman returns to the big screen this Friday in Man of Steel, another origins story. While there have been many different origins stories of comic book heroes, one of the best remains the original Superman movie released in 1978, which made Christopher Reeve a household name. To us, the movie still holds up as one of the best superhero movies of all time.

Director Richard Donner, who directed many movie hits such as The Omen and The Lethal Weapon films, did an incredible job on the original film. Donner had an eye for talent, casting the late Reeve as the Man of Steel. We spoke to Donner over the years, and he recalls casting Christopher Reeve as Superman.
