31Deadline.com is reporting that blockbuster producer, Joel Silver, who has produced the Lethal Weapon films, The Matrix trilogy, and Die Hard, is going to produce a ‘retelling’ of the 1981 cult classic, Escape From New York, which was directed by John Carpenter and starred Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken.

A few years ago, a remake of Escape From New York, which would have starred Gerard Butler, was in the works but was never made. When the film was then in the works, we spoke to Kurt Russell, who is one of the classiest people in Hollywood, and asked him about Escape From New York being remade. Russell told us that a few of the films he has starred in have been remade such as The Thing, and variations of Backdraft. Russell went on to tell us that he has done some pretty cool films in his career. (Click on the media bar below to hear Kurt Russell)
