Oz: The Great And Powerful (CR: Disney Enterprises)Oz The Great And Powerful continued to dominate the box office with a first place finish and $42.2 million to add to its coffers.  Halle Berry’s suspense thriller The Call, which had a production budget of just $13 million, exceeded expectations with $17.1 million and a #2 debut.  The star power of middle aged actors Steve Carell and Jim Carrey did not translate into success for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, as the comedy had a sub-par opening with $10.3 million and a weak third place ranking.

Here’s this weekend’s top 10:

1.  Oz The Great And Powerful - $42.2 million

2.  The Call - $17.1 million

3.  The Incredible Burt Wonderstone - $10.3 million

4.  Jack the Giant Slayer - $6.22 million

5. Identity Thief - $4.519 million

6.  Snitch - $3.5 million

7.  21 and Over - $2.62 million

9.  Safe Haven - $2.5 million

10.  Escape From Planet Earth - $2.33 million

One of Oz The Great And Powerful’s stronger facets lies in the close collaboration with James Franco and director Sam Raimi. The two previously worked together on the Spider-Man movies, and in the clip below Franco talks about how Raimi helped shaped Oz (Franco) in Oz The Great And Powerful.
