With Live Free or Die Hard and the upcoming A Good Day To Die Hard, John McClane’s (Bruce Willis) shoddy but well intentioned parental skills have come to light. Although Mary Elizabeth Winstead briefly appears in A Good Day to Die Hard, this installment centers on McClane’s strained relationship with his son (Jai Courtney), a fearless CIA agent who’s on a perilous mission in Moscow.
During the A Good Day To Die Hard press conference, a reporter asked Mr. Willis about the joys he derives from fatherhood. “My favorite job is being a father,” said the actor. “I have four girls now. (They’re) a captive audience. They can’t really run away from you even if they don’t like your jokes. But I just enjoy it, I love making my kids laugh.”
