Already available via VOD but opening in theaters today, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING is a video game style action movie that centers on a man who awakens in a hospital swearing revenge against the people responsible for the murder of his family. Short on story but long on rock-’em, sock-’em action, the film is number four in the familiar franchise. Co-written and directed by JOHN HYAMS, the cast includes DOLPH LUNDGREN, JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME, SCOTT ADKINS, KRISTOPHER VAN VARENBERG and MARIAH BONNER.
Twenty years after appearing in the first UNIVERSAL SOLDIER film and just three years after the previous installment, DOLPH LUNDGREN is no stranger to the kind of work the franchise calls for. During our interview last week, the action star talked about how he didn’t really want to participate in the last UNIVERSAL SOLDIER movie and how, until he got swayed by director HYAMS, he didn’t want to be involved in this one either.
