Opening in limited release Friday and most likely destined for attention come awards season, THE SESSIONS is inspired by the autobiographical writings of journalist MARK O’BRIEN and tells the touching and ultimately optimistic story of his attempts, despite spending most of his life in an iron-lung, to lose his virginity via the assistance of a sex surrogate. Written and directed by BEN LEWIN, the film features standout (not to mention incredibly brave) performances by JOHN HAWKES and HELEN HUNT as well as strong support from WILLIAM H. MACY, MOON BLOODGOOD, ADAM ARKIN and RHEA PERLMAN.
Handling scenes of sexual as well as emotional intimacy with amazing strength and confidence, HAWKES and HUNT turn in the kind of performances that impress critics and other actors alike. During our recent interview with WILLIAM H. MACY, he sang the praises of his co-stars in the film. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
