Opening in theaters today, ARGO is a terrifically clever mix of political thriller and show-biz satire inspired by actual events and tags itself as “a declassified true story” in telling a tale centered on the Iran hostage crisis of 1979. Directed by and starring BEN AFFLECK from a screenplay by CHRIS TERRIO, the film’s cast also features BRYAN CRANSTON, JOHN GOODMAN, TAYLOR SCHLLING, KYLE CHANDLER, VICTOR GARBER, CLEA DuVALL and TATE DONOVAN.
Already garnering positive word-of-mouth and internet buzz, ARGO looks to be a shoe-in for attention come awards season. During the recent press conference to promote the film, ALAN ARKIN talked about his role as a Hollywood producer recruited by the government to take part in the escape plan and joked that his take on a cynical and somewhat jaded Hollywood insider wasn’t far from the real thing.
