Opening in both traditional and IMAX theaters today, FRANKENWEENIE is the long-gestating creation of filmmaker TIM BURTON and a true artistic labor of love. A 3D, stop-motion animated expansion of a live-action short film he did back in 1984. FRANKENWEENIE is the story of an unusual reunion between a boy and his dog and features the voice talents of MARTIN LANDAU, CHRISTOPHER LEE, CATHERINE O’HARA, MARTIN SHORT, CONCHATA FERRELL and WINONA RYDER.
Even though BURTON was able to make a live-action short, it was always his dream to see it realized as an animated feature. Now, almost thirty years later, that dream has come true and he tells us that it’s about time and he’s not feeling a postpartum depression over it.
