Set for theatrical release later this year, HYDE PARK ON HUDSON is inspired by actual events surrounding the visit of Britain’s King George and Queen Elizabeth to the New York residence of sitting President Franklin Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor, in the summer of 1939. A seriocomic look at one of history’s little known footnotes, it stars BILL MURRAY as America’s 32nd Commander-in-Chief, Franklin Delano Roosevelt (and could just get him a little attention come awards season).
Certainly no stranger to playing dramatic roles (THE RAZOR’S EDGE, LOST IN TRANSLATION), MURRAY cut his teeth on comedy and will always be remembered for such films as GROUNDHOG DAY and CADDYSHACK (to name just a couple). Considered one of the greatest golf movies of all time, CADDYSHACK should have brought MURRAY respect and consideration at any golf course in the world but, during an interview we did with him a few years ago, he confessed that the total opposite is the case.
