Making its debut tonight on NBC-TV, GO ON is a new sitcom featuring former FRIENDS star MATTHEW PERRY as a sportscaster forced by management into grief counseling after the death of his wife. Needless to say, his therapy group is rife with quirky characters all created in the hopes of turning that widower frown upside-down. Created by SCOTT SILVERI, the show’s cast also includes JOHN CHO, LAURA BENANTI, MICHELLE BERNARD, KIMRIE LEWIS-DAVIS and TERRILL OWENS.
Pals since their days together on FRIENDS, PERRY and SILVERI sat down with us recently at the Television Critics Association press event to talk about getting back together for GO ON.
This show had a great pilot; it was smart, funny, had some decent drama worked in, and the secondary cast is amazing. The writers took some real risks having Ryan’s death be her fault, which adds an interesting layer of anger to his grief. I was all set to watch this second episode, but it’s been so long since that sneak peak after the Olympics, I forgot all about it until I saw some of the people in my Dish Co-Workers group on Facebook talking about it. Had this happened a few months ago I would have missed it, and had to hope for a rerun. Now that I have the Hopper though, this show was recorded by the PrimeTime Anytime feature, as its on one of the big four Networks and airs during primetime. Even better, when I watch it tonight, I can use Auto Hop to skip the commercials!
