Set to make another debut (is there anyone who hasn’t seen this pilot yet??) tonight on NBC-TV, THE NEW NORMAL is the latest entry from (up to now) TV genius RYAN MURPHY. A pretty standard half-hour comedy, the series is centered on a committed same-sex couple struggling to add a ‘gayby’ to their family via a down-on-her-luck, single-mom surrogate (herself dealing with a precocious pre-teen and an outspoken bigoted mother).
Already the target of a boycott by the NBC affiliate station in Utah, the series is obviously touching on hot-button issues in the news today. We sat down with cast members JUSTIN BARTHA, GEORGIA KING and ANDREW RANNELLS at a recent Television Critics Association press event and they talked about the election year timing of the release of the show.
How could you do this to Nene Leakes, how degrading. She is so talented and funny and you stick her in a sitcom that is so disgusting, two homosexuals acting like women. You are degrading the gays too. I watched two shows, Nene did not have even one line in the second show. Get smart and give her her own show and dump the stupid gays, OH MY GOSH, I almost threw up. We love you Nene, jeers to NBC and CNN for doing this to you.
