It’s not even a glint in the eyes of most moviegoers, but Rise of the Guardians will receive the Hollywood Animation Award at the 16th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Film Awards. Chris Pine (Star Trek) is the voice of Jack Frost, one of several Guardians pitted against an evil spirit named Pitch (voiced by Jude Law). Hellboy filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is an executive producer of the film, which is based on the series of books penned by William Joyce. David Lindsay-Abaire, the writer behind the acclaimed Nicole Kidman drama Rabbit Hole, penned the screenplay.
“It is a great pleasure to recognize Rise of the Guardians as the recipient of our animation award,” announced Carlos de Abreau, Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Film Awards. “This piece of Avant-garde animation style surely will be another classic for generations to come.”
The ceremony takes place October 22nd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, and Rise of the Guardians opens nationwide November 21st.
