Enjoying positive critical response as well as enthusiastic word of mouth, the Telluride Film Festival screening of HYDE PARK ON HUDSON would seem to be a success and a harbinger of good things for its upcoming outings at TIFF and The New York Film Festival. Inspired by actual events surrounding the visit of Britain’s King George and Queen Elizabeth to the New York residence of sitting President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor, in the summer of 1939, the film is a seriocomic look at one of history’s little known footnotes. Directed by ROGER MICHELL from a script by RICHARD NELSON, the cast is headed by BILL MURRAY, LAURA LINNEY, OLIVIA WILLIAMS, SAMUEL WEST and OLIVIA COLMAN.
As film trailers go, we’re giving this one high marks and are betting HYDE PARK ON HUDSON will be mentioned quite a bit come awards season.
