For the second time in over 40 years, JERRY LEWIS won’t be hosting the annual muscular dystrophy telethon that has, for better or worse, become a Labor Day television mainstay. Despite last year’s negative reaction to the news that he’d not been invited to perform his signature theme song, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and the shocking reveal that the legendary 85-year-old comedian was unceremoniously dropped by the program for reasons that remain as clear as mud, the powers that be at the helm of the program are steadfast in their decision not to use the former host. Abrasive, egotistical and sometimes offensive, LEWIS has been called-out over the years for insensitive remarks towards gays and women but no one has ever disputed his relentless work and fund-raising efforts on behalf of those who have become known as “Jerry’s Kids.”

I’ve always loved to watch Jerry Lewis on the telethon for the last 35 years and I do have to admit that it is not the same without him on the show but I still love the guy and wish him many years to go.

The MDA telethon became a bloated ego-inflated showcase for Jewis “The Old Windbag” Lewis. It was an old show that was for old foggies. It featured old tired musical acts that no one wanted to see anymore. The telethon really did not keep pace with being in the 21st Century as the now 85-year-old Jerry Lewis became an out-of-place exceedingly old has-been baggage that had to be jettisoned. Jerry had to go - particularly since the telethon was becoming more and more irrelevant in today’s world - except for all the old sentimental foggies out there who want to watch an really old man show off his over-sized ego on an old fashioned lame telethon show.

I love he telethon and Jerry Lewis. It is all about finding a cure for this horrible disease. I just pray that none of us get this disease. I have seen what it can do and how painful it is. You go Jerry.
