In theaters later this month, LAWLESS is a period piece set in Depression-era rural Virginia and centers on three brothers trying to steer clear of the law while working to make a success of the family bootlegging business. Directed by JOHN HILLCOAT from a script by NICK CAVE, the cast includes TOM HARDY, JESSICA CHASTAIN, SHIA LeBEOUF and GARY OLDMAN. A decidedly more ‘grown-up’ role than audiences are used to seeing former child-star LaBEOUF in, it’s nothing compared to the explicitly sexual part he’s reportedly accepted for the upcoming LARS VON TRIER film, NYMPHOMANIAC. Speaking with entertainment reporters yesterday, LeBEOUF responded to questions about moving on from popcorn pictures such as the TRANSFORMERS and INDIANA JONES franchises to more serious, adult titles like LAWLESS and NYMPHOMANIAC and what goes into his filmmaking choices.
