Debuting tonight on BBC-America, COPPER is a police procedural from the minds of HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET creators BARRY LEVINSON and TOM FONTANA that introduces audiences to the world of criminal investigation as it existed in post-civil war New York City. TOM WESTON-JONES stars as Kevin Corcoran, a police detective as smart as he is brooding and working in the field of criminology long before modern tech invaded the scene with DNA, fingerprints and even forensic pathology. During the Television Critics Association press conference to introduce the series, FONTANA admitted it was lack of technology that attracted him to the show and he loved the idea of a series without modern conveniences.
